Tai Chi Chuan Classes

Tuesdays from 7-7:50 p.m. in Metamora

Tai chi chuan is an ancient Chinese martial art that can be practiced for its many scientifically researched health benefits.

In this beginner’s class, black belt martial arts instructor Adam Bockler presents basic, low-impact postures and forms that can help you learn self-defense and increase strength, flexibility, balance, and more.

Our style is old Yang-style tai chi chuan. We also practice the animal and element forms of Hsing-i chuan.

Sparring or grappling is not part of this class.

What Participants Say

Some of the forms...are not only fun to do, but its purpose is to improve my balance and coordination so I no longer have the fear of falling like I did before I took this class.

My husband and I started taking Tai Chi with Adam in February. We love the class! He is a great instructor, caring and humorous. Our classmates were very welcoming also. If you are thinking of taking a martial arts class, and don't feel like you are "athletic", you can do this class!

Laura D.Tai chi chuan student

I have experienced improvement in coordination, balance, and an understanding of what Tai Chi is. I have enjoyed getting out of the house to attend the classes and have enjoyed meeting and working with the other people in the class.

Peggy B.Tai chi chuan student

I am enjoying something new. Adam does a great job explaining the patterns in Tai Chi Chuan to all different skill levels. I am looking forward to continuing on my training

[Adam] was a very patient teacher and kept the class interesting, even though I was a beginner and others had more experience. Try it - you’ll like it!
