At Metamora Martial Arts, safety is our top priority.

And you already know we deal with a variety of weather in central Illinois.

Please review our weather policy to stay informed about class changes due to severe weather conditions.

General Notes On Class Cancellations/Reschedules

  • Please check our Facebook group for real-time updates on class cancellations. That’s the quickest way I can get information out to everyone.
  • I’ll do my best to offer make-up classes, but that may not always be possible.
  • As always, if you don’t feel safe attending a class due to weather, please contact me if you’d like to attend another night.

Winter Weather (Snow & Ice)

If winter weather conditions (snowstorms or ice) are forecast to make travel unsafe, we may cancel class or dismiss early.

Severe Weather (Thunderstorms)

Similar to forecasted winter weather, class may be canceled or dismissed early in the event of a severe thunderstorm headed our way.

Extreme Heat

We don’t anticipate canceling class due to heat unless the dojo’s air conditioner is broken.

Alternative Class Options

  • For 6 p.m. Wednesday karate students: You are welcome to attend the 6 p.m. Tuesday class instead. This is typically more of a basic class. Lesson plans will be adjusted to include advanced students if we know we cannot do a Wednesday practice.
  • For 7 p.m. Wednesday karate students: Your child may attend the 7 p.m. Tuesday tai chi chuan class, where we will work alongside the tai chi students.

At-Home Practice Resources

If class is canceled for any reason, I have resources available to help students practice at home.

  1. Here is a home workout covering all of our basic techniques
  2. 15-minute home workout videos from Century Martial Arts – There are currently 17 videos between 15-20 minutes long. All you need is a punching bag, practice mitts, or your imagination.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility!

Please reach out if you have any questions.
