Martial Arts Seminar Aug. 9 Featuring Okinawan Bunkai and Jiu-Jitsu

The night before the 2013 Douglas Grose Memorial Tournament, Ms. Vera Harrison and the American Jiu-Jitsu Karate Assocation International hosts Col. James Gifford, Jr., all the way from the San Antonio area.

Col. Gifford, a 7th dan in Shinto Yoshin-ryu jiu-jitsu and Shinmei Shorin-ryu karate, will teach classic Okinawan bunkai as applied to jiu-jitsu and self-defense, applications beneficial for martial artists, military and law enforcement personnel, male and female.

The cost is $40 to participate and $5 for spectators. Discounts are available for those attending the Summer Seminar 2013 and/or the 2013 Douglas Grose Memorial Martial Arts Tournament, taking place the next day.

The seminar will be held from 6-9 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church, 725 E. Forrest Hill Ave., Peoria, IL.

Uniforms are not required for this event.

For more information, please contact Hanshi Vera Harrison at 309-251-8588.

Mr. Bockler’s Commentary

I attended the seminar hosted by Ms. Harrison last year. It was a different format (six instructors taught 30 minutes apiece), but I found it to be very valuable. Given how intelligent Ms. Harrison is, and knowing she wouldn’t bring in just anybody, I would highly recommend this to any martial artist.
