This month in history: September


Metamora Martial Arts participated in the annual Homecoming parade.


September 10, 2004 – We performed our first varsity halftime football game demonstration in front of a rowdy crowd at Malone Field.


September 1, 2006 – Aaron Ruder endures his black belt test, becoming the seventh person to do so in our program. During the test, Metamora Martial Artists performed at our third varsity halftime football game demo.

September 2, 2006 – Aaron Ruder’s promotion is made official during an outdoor ceremony at Black Partridge Park. With Aaron’s promotion to shodan, Adam Bockler becomes the sempai.


September 11, 2009 – Metamora Martial Arts performs a demonstration at Fiesta Del Rio on the Peoria riverfront. The demo was led by Mr. Chianakas, whose translator was Adair Rodriguez. Jake Potter, Chris Schirer and Adam Ulbricht also attend.

September 13, 2009 – Adam Bockler leads a demo at the Art Rod Festival in Metamora, accompanied by Jake Potter, Elizabeth Breitbarth and Chris Schirer.

Adam Bockler

Sensei Adam Bockler is a 2nd-degree black belt in karate and the owner of Metamora Martial Arts. He's been in the martial arts since 2003, and has received instruction in tai chi chuan, Hsing-i chuan, judo, tae kwon do and XMA. Sensei Bockler was inducted into the 2014 USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Karate Black Belt of the Year. He is the communications manager for Float Mobile Learning.
